LG Uplus announced on the 7th that it is entering the logistics robot business in collaboration with Yujin Robot, a specialist in autonomous mobility solutions.

"Manufacturing and logistics sites have faced a surge in workload and a chronic shortage of labor in recent years, driving the demand for automation," said a representative from LG Uplus. "Our logistics robot business aims to implement practical automation by providing a stable communication network and developing a user-friendly robot control platform."

Yujin Robot has been developing various technologies related to autonomous robots, including 3D LiDAR sensors, autonomous mobility and functional safety controllers, standard and custom platforms, and system integration (SI). The company's autonomous robot GoCart became the first logistics robot in Korea and the third in the world to be ISO 13482 certified for robot safety in 2021.

LG Uplus recognized the need to quickly introduce innovative logistics robots and automation services to gain a strong foothold in the logistics robot market. Thus, the telecom company decided to partner with Yujin Robot, which has decades of experience and expertise in this field. Through this collaboration, LG Uplus will focus on creating a stable environment for robot use with its 5G network and platform, while Yujin Robot will supply high-quality logistics robots and operational expertise. In addition, the two companies plan to offer subscription-based products to lower initial investment costs for customers.
